Trash and Recycling changes

Written by Michael B on 8th Feb, 2020.

Starting the week of March 1, 2020, changes to trash and recycling will start in Cedar Park.
The biggest change will be to the pickup itself. The City is going to use new automated pickup trucks and the trash cart must be at least 3 feet from other objects including the recycling cart. The other big change will be for yard trimmings. From March 23rd to May 1st, yard trimmings in paper bags will be picked up and recycled and will not count toward the bulk pickup item count (7 bulk items per pickup) limit. Before March 23rd and after May 1st, trimmings will count as bulk items.

Tree Trimming by City in Quest Village

Written by Michael B on 1st Jul, 2019.

City tree trimming moving into Quest Village

If you have not already trimmed your bushes and trees according to City safety guidelines, City contracted crews are in your area to address those issues. Some of you and your neighbors may receive a door hanger about tree and foliage trimming that needs to be done in your area. If you did not receive a door hanger, I am posting it here for you to see better. I also wanted to give you information on why the trimming is done.

To ensure the safety of our neighbors, utility workers, EMS, Fire Dept., school buses, etc., the City of Cedar Park encourages each home owner to maintain the trees and shrubs located on their property so that they do not affect public right-of-way in streets and sidewalks.

Branches need to be cut to a minimum of 14 feet above roadways and 8 feet above sidewalks. These height requirements are illustrated at the bottom of this page and can be found at http://www.cedarparktexas.gov/treetrimming. alt text

Foliage around water meters should also be groomed so the meter may easily be read.

If City of Cedar Park crews trim trees and foliage out of public right-of-ways, please be aware that they do not do any aesthetic trimming; it is for safety purposes only and may not meet your standards for how you would like your trees and foliage to look.

Please feel free to reach out to Public Works with any further concerns at 512-401-5550. Details available here.
