Rabies exposure risk

An unvaccinated Border Collie mix was recently confirmed as having rabies and played at Zilker Park potentially exposing people and other animals. If you were at Zilker Park on February 9 and think you or your dog was exposed, see your doctor or vet and contact Austin Animal Services (by calling 311).

Signs of animal rabies:

  • change in personality
  • depression
  • fever
  • loss of appetite
  • abnormal behavior, aggression, and/or self-mutilation
  • cranial nerve (dropped jaw, tongue incoordination, difficulty swallowing, excessive salivation) ataxia (wobbly, weakness, paralysis, seizures)

Animal Rabies Prevention:

  • Regular pet check-ups with your veterinarian
  • Current rabies vaccination for your pet

183 North Mobility Project Update

UPDATED: This meeting has been postponed due to closures at the Round Rock ISD facilities.

WHAT: 183 North Mobility Project Open House
WHEN: Thursday, March 5th, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
WHERE: Westwood High School (cafeteria), 12400 Mellow Meadow, Austin, TX 78750

The CTRMA (Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority) and the TXDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) are holding an Open House on March 5th to learn about and provide input on the measures to help manage traffic congeestion on US 183 between MoPac and SH 45 including the proposed Express Lanes.

Bell Blvd. Redevelopment and Revitalization Study

Halloween Trick or Treat at City Hall

The city is hosting their annual Halloween in the Hall event on Friday, October 31, 2014, from 3-5 p.m. at Cedar Park City Hall, 450 Cypress Creek Road, Buildings 1-3! Costumes are welcome and encouraged! Full details here.

Fall Fest at the Twin Lakes YMCA

Saturday, October 18th from noon until 9pm the Twin Lakes YMCA will be hosting their annual Fall Fest.
Activities include: A Kiddie Carnival Midway with carnival game, many FREE inflatables, slides and moonwalks for the younger kids, plus the Halloween costume contest at 3, 5 & 7pm.

In addition, there will be ticketed features like: Rock n Roll joust, Quad Bungee Jump, Adrenaline Rush obstacle course, Skater Super Slide, Spinners, Bouncy Boxer and more. And if that is not enough, you can shoot paintball at the Haunted Island, zip down the dual Zip Line or climb the 60 Ft Tower! There also Pony Rides, the Train Ride and **free **Hay rides.

National Night Out

This Tuesday, October 7th is National Night Out! Remind your neighbor to your left and your neighbor to your right AND the one across the street. The party is at the corner of Stallion and Paso Fino! Look for the National Night Out poster in the yard! I hope everyone comes out!
